Mission
Mission: In 2020, we responded to 2,379 calls for service including 271 fires - combined vehicle, structure, natural vegetation fires - 1,611 emergency medical calls, 235 rescues or extrications, 262 fire-related responses including false alarms or smoke scares and 197 public assistance calls. SVFD is an all Volunteer Fire Department comprised of 59 members. We provide all fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical services fire prevention to our residents and tourists, which covers 118 square miles. Programs: The department is operated by non-paid volunteers (except for a stipend when watching the station) and provides fire protection to the Seymour community (est population 70,000) in the tri-county areas of Sevier, Knox and Blount at no charge to residents and businesses.
