ASO Concert Series
Orchestras are an important part of the community fabric. The presence of a symphony orchestra is often an indcicatior of a community's economic and cultrual strength, improving quality of life, promoting understanding of other cultures, fostering pride in the community and contributing to the education and development of children.
With a new executive director and several new board members at its helm, ASO is going back to its roots this season to eveoke a hometown, community feel in its programming lineuthe symphony's theme is "Music on a Personal Note, " resulting in what may be our most versatile season yet. Audiences can expect classical greats Beethoven and Bach, blended with brass music, a high-flying circus act and a Chinese musical prodigy. Each act is paired with a local element, whether it be a community choir or Acadian Folk songs, to increase accessibility and make audiences feel at home.

ASO Children's Concerts
Today, educational concerts are a long-standing tradition of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra. Made possible by local corporate and individual donors who recognize the many positive effects that music education has on children, these programs are provided free of charge and draw more than 4,000 public and private school students for a postivie introducation to the symphony and an educational bridge into an artisitc and cultural experience.
It is our mission to provide more opportunities for the youth of Acadiana to get involved in music and provide them with an exctiing and educaitonal introduction to the world of music, whether it's through private lessons, group classes or exposure to the performances of the ASO.
In November, the ASO is proud to offer Acadiana Children an educational concert featuring Cirque de la Symphonie. This exciting production is designed to bring the magic of cirque to the music hall, while exposing youth to masterpieces of classical music in an incredible fusion with world-renowned visual artistry.
ASO-Boston Brass Educational Residency
This program will reach over a thousand children in the Acadiana area exposing them to master teachers and performers, while allowing them to perform on stage with the symphony and the internationally renowned Boston Brass quintet.
Funding of this program will allow the ASO to focus on expansion of this program allowing us to reach even more children and families in additional parishes in Acadiana. It is no secret that arts funding in schools continues to be cut and that the schools in Acadiana are some that have been affected the most. It is the mission of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra & Conservatory of Music to provide more opportunities for the youth of Acadiana to get involved in music and provide them with an exciting and educational experience. The exposure that children receive from projects like these can be life changing.
