ARRL Field Day

An annual event during the last weekend in June. Amateur radio operators from around the country set up in less than ideal conditions and communicate with each other. A real world test of equipment operations in the event of communication outages.

Population(s) Served

Our monthly meetings include a different presentation each time. Mostly ham radio related, but also includes anything related to technology.

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Center around the use of amateur radio to serve the community of Volusia County Florida; in gaining knowledge of the scientific principles of radio communications; in conducting scientific experiments into radio propagation and other scientific phenomenon; in providing training in emergency communications; in providing communications to government and relief agencies during times of emergency; and another activities there in compliance with section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

We regularly hold weekly meetings on the radio and monthly meeting in person. We plan programs and events that promote and educate the use of amateur radio. Most of these programs are held at our monthly meetings which are not only open to members but to the public as well.

The members are the strength. All are federally license amateur radio operators through the Federal Communications Commission. Everyone has diverse interest and experience in the field. We not only learn from each other but freely share our knowledge with whomever is interested.

In the last 3 years, our organization has steadily grown. We participate in yearly nationally sponsored events which always attract a group of new individuals.
During Hurricanes Matthew and Irma, many of our club members helped out with communications at shelters and reports to NWS SkyWarn.
