YWCA South Florida
YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
YWCA South Florida’s mission is to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. YWCA is the oldest and largest women’s organization in the nation, serving over 2 million women, girls and their families. Today, we combine programming and advocacy in order to generate systemic change and build equity in three key areas: racial justice and civil rights; empowerment and economic advancement of women and girls; and health and safety of women and girls.
YWCA Family Wellness
Provides low income women with accessibility to health care education with the majority served being within the ages of 23-54. Services provided through this program includes routine breast cancer screenings due to availablity, accessibility and acceptability of tests. This program also provides yoga.
YWCA Early Childhood
This program offers APPLE accredited 4-Star Quality Counts education to children ages 0-5 in a multi-cultural and socio-economic diverse community, where the majority of the children and considered to be at-risk. Services include: cognitive development instruction, teacher recorded observations, creative curriculum assessment, positive and productive relationships with the family, and a purposeful program that is responsive to the need of the participants.
YWCA Economic Empowerment Program
The YWCA's Economic Empowerment Program promotes basic financial literacy through a series of cohorts with women and families gaining knowledge of finances, savings, banking and economic stability.
YWCA's Intel Computer Clubhouse
This program offers creative and safe out-of-school learning to youth living in underserved communities. An international program, the YWCA Clubhouse is one of approximately one hundred globally and provides youth with access to resources, skills, and experiences to help each succeed in their careers, contribute to their community, and lead outstanding lives.
YWCA After-School Program
This program helps youth explore a variety of interest, exercise talents and through each-achieve competence.
YWCA's Court Care Program
The YWCA's Court Care Program advocates for children who are victims or witness to violence by protecting them from courtroom proceedings with a safe-haven while their parents attend to court-related business. This program is offered at the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building, the Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse Center, and the Overtown Transit VIllage.
