What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Compass Center - Adolescent Residential Treatment
The Compass Center is an Adolescent Substance Abuse and Co-occurring treatment program for teens ages 13-17. It utilizes a holistic approach to address the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health needs of each adolescent who participates in the program. The length of stay is a minimum of 3 to 4 1/2 months. The Compass Center is the only adolescent residential treatment program for the Charlotte, Sarasota and Manatee areas that treats co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders.
Children's Outpatient Medical Services
Children’s Outpatient Medical Services is a program for youth (ages 5 -17) who have a serious behavioral health disorder (s) (i.e., depressive, bipolar, schizoaffective, and/or attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder) and typically face multiple family and environmental stressors. Coastal’s Children’s Outpatient Services provide comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments by master’s level mental health professionals, psychiatric evaluations by licensed psychiatrists, medication prescription and monitoring, health and wellness education, individual and family counseling, and case coordination services to improve the quality of the child and family’s life.
As part of a comprehensive assessment, the needs of the child and family are evaluated to determine environmental stressors such as poverty, trauma, risk of homelessness, etc. that may be contributing to the distress of the child and family. Case management and care coordination services are also provided when indicated by assisting the family in obtaining food stamps, health insurance, and other humanitarian assistance.
Adult Mental Health Services
Coastal provides outpatient psychiatric and therapy services to approximately 7,000 adults every year. Services are located in North Port and Sarasota (17th Street and 10th Street) Services are based on a person-centered recovery based model and are focused on helping people to achieve their highest level of independence in the community. The Department of Children and Families pays partial costs for people without health insurance.
