Mission

To provide comprehensive oral health services for individuals and families of rural north central Florida, regardless of ability to pay. ACORN Clinic provides high quality, affordable dental care by staff and volunteers. In partnership with educational institutions, ACORN functions as an exemplary service learning site for health professionals. Vision ACORN Clinic strives to improve the health of rural communities in north central Florida through high-quality, patient-centered healthcare, community partnerships, service learning, and volunteerism. ACORN Dental Clinic

ACORN CLINIC provides funding sources: United Way of Alachua County, Suwannee River Area Health Education Center, Civic groups, Community Churches, Alachua, Bradford and Union Counties, patient fees, Medicaid, fundraising events, foundations, and donations. ACORN Dental Clinic provides close to 4,000 annual visits offering dental hygiene and dental care including: oral exams, prophylaxis, sealants, x-rays, extractions, restorations, crowns, oral surgery, bridges, complete and partial dentures, hygiene instruction, emergency care. Private practice dentists, UF faculty and students volunteer over 6,500 hours to provide $710,000 value of service. Prevalent dental problems include poor dentition due to poverty and lack of education.
