Mission

It is our MISSION to provide information and services regarding hearing loss, as well as products, services and support to Palm Beach County individuals and their families, in order to assist them in achieving independence through effective communication access. It is our VISION that quality of life will not be limited by hearing loss. Through prevention and accommodation, assistive technology and community acceptance, full potential of persons with hearing loss shall be realized.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Currently, four of the major activities are: 1) distribution of free volume control or text telephones to residents with hearing loss under a contract with Florida Telecommunications Relay, Inc., 2) Direct Client Assistance, including children's programs, counseling, recycling used hearing aids, and advocacy; 3) Information and referrals to help connect clients to resources and services they need; and 4) Community education regarding the pervasiveness and consequences of untreated hearing loss including workshops and one-on-one training regarding such topics as the use of special telephone and listening equipment; In 2003, the agency directly assisted 39,000 deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals or family members.
