Mission

Our flights save lives! For over three decades, Air Serv has helped bring hope to people who faced the devastation of floods, hurricanes, drought, famine and civil war. We fly in first responders and assessment teams, water, medicines, food, and evacuate the injured. Air Serv makes it possible for emergency relief and development teams to access areas where the infrastructure is minimal or nonexistent and access by any other means is ineffective, too dangerous or impossible.

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

A humanitarian disaster occurs. Good people around the world respond by sending assistance. But what happens when doctors, emergency personnel, medicine, food, and relief supplies can't reach their intended destinations to help those most in need? What happens when there are no roads to access isolated locations and hardest hit communities? Air Serv International flies the last mile to deliver lifesaving care by air.

Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Air Serv Programs

While we aim to serve anywhere in the world there is need, Air Serv currently operates programs primarily in eastern Africa. The majority of long term programs in 2018 are in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan, with additional ad hoc flights as requested. In DRC and South Sudan, Air Serv International has been assuring humanitarian relief workers fast, safe and reliable access to remote locations. Air Serv provides humanitarian flights throughout region, carrying humanitarian staff and vital cargo, and performing medical and security evacuations.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Air Serv aims to provide safe and efficient access to disaster areas for the purposes of delivering aid and humanitarian assistance. We adhere to the highest standards of safety and facilitate the movement of humanitarian partners and supplies into the world's most inaccessible places. When geography, weather, infrastructure, and insecurity restrict ground movement, we are the bridge to the final point of delivery.

Air Serv International has provided air transport services for over three decades and in that time, has acquired a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the needs and objectives of our colleague humanitarian agencies. We evaluate locations of and responses to crises to determine program requirements and capabilities. Working closely with our partner organizations, we maintain and adjust aircraft and supply methods as needs dictate. Air Serv also remains dedicated to the training of local and expatriate staff in required technical, administrative, and management skills.

Air Serv maintains a fleet of Cessna Caravans, an aircraft type proven in a wide range of environments. It is lightweight but sturdy, able to take off and land where heavier aircraft can not, and is able to transport both passengers and cargo. This aircraft has demonstrated suitability to the environments in which Air Serv programs operate. In addition, Air Serv has maintained a variety of aircraft throughout our years of service, ranging from helicopters and heavy lift, to lighweight King Air and Twin Otter prop planes. As a result, we are well positioned to source additional aircraft which might be more suited to a particular mission than those currently in our fleet.

Since 1984, Air Serv International has flown millions of miles across the world in some of the most inaccessible places under the most difficult of circumstances. In more recent years, ASI was the first civilian air operator allowed access to Iraq following the end of initial combat operations in the spring of 2003. When the Pakistan earthquake hit in 2005, ASI helicopters provided vital access to the mountainous areas. In 2011, ASI aircraft were utilized by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems to facilitate voter registration prior to the referendum granting independence to South Sudan. In 2017, a tribal war broke out in Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo and it was Air Serv planes which carried medicine and assistance for the people displaced by the conflict. Going forward, we hope to expand our geographic scope while maintaining quality and safety standards, expanding training programs, and meeting the needs of our humanitarian partners in any ways we are able.
