Mission

The mission statement of the broward homebound program is enable the elderly and disabled adults of Broward County to live independently at home with dignity.The agency was founded in 1986 by a group of concerned senior citizens who saw the need amongst their neighbors for affordable in home services.The majority of the retired people had no family living close by to assist them with shopping, errands and assistance with personal care. Since 1986 approximately 15,000 residents of Broward County have been able to live independently with the in home services provided by the Broward Homebound Program.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

There are three programs that comprise the agency. The first program is the subsidy program that provides case management and in home services such as homemaker, personal care,respite care and live in care. Services are arranged on a sliding scale basis.
The second program is the Community Care for Disabled Adults Program. This program provides meals on wheels, homemaker,respite care, personal care, adult day health, emergency response systems, and medical supplies to permanently disabled adults.The third program is the Home Delivered Meals and Medical Supplies Program. This program provides home delivered meals to disabled adults who are unable to shop and prepare their own meals due to their disabilities.
