Mission

Alleviate hunger for the low-income homebound elderly, mentally challenged, mentally handicapped, children and families with a hand up, not a hand out. To assist in disaster relief. In 2011 we donated 6,000,000 pounds of food to address the nutritionally challenged of Florida. We also donated over 300,000 volunteer hours. We have a sheltered work shop for mentally challenged and mentally handy-capped people to work at our hydroponic farm. We have a soup kitchen, free showers, laundry, haircuts and clothes for the low-income, unemployed and homeless.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

The Volunteer Way, Inc. Brown Bag Program

T.V.W. has The Brown Bag Program where volunteers deliver 40 to 60 pounds of food, along with toiletries and adult diapers to over 200 low income, home bound and disabled seniors each month. Over 70 volunteers deliver these much needed items. Additionally, we deliver food for their pets known as "animeals". We've learned during our intake these seniors who have pets have often sacrificed their own food for their pets. Sadly, for the vast majority of seniors we serve in this program the only positive interaction they receive is when the volunteers deliver their box of food.

We distribute food monthly to 12,000 families in Pasco County, FL. and 40 food pantries and soup kitchens each week. We take food to low-income homebound elderly every month.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on area restaurants, Pasco Board of County Commissioners have allotted funds to help Pasco County restaurants struggling during this crisis, to provide hot meals for families who too are struggling during this crisis. These funds are administered through United Way of Pasco County. The United Way of Pasco County contacted Pasco restaurants to inform them of this program and and interest in participating. Arlisa's Events is working with The Volunteer Way. Arlisa's Events, prepares nutritious hot meals and delivers to our Food Bank where we distribute to consumers who are in need of food through our drive-thru food distribution operation.
