What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Policy, Advocacy, Leadership and Membership
CFA members are creating a locally innovative food economy (LIFE) to replace the existing agricultural economy with a community-controlled system whereby Kentuckians consume the majority of their food products grown and processed in Kentucky.
Farmers Market Support Program
The mission of the FMSP is to provide Kentucky Farmers Markets with the rools, resources, and network development with enable each market to built a better outlet for producers while increasing food access for all consumers.
Appalachian Food Story Project
Also called Breaking Beans, the Appalachian Food Story Project seeks to tell the story of how local food and farming in Eastern Kentucky can contribute to a bright future in the mountains.
Community Food System Assessments
A Community Food System Assessment is a tool to help communities collaborate with diverse stakeholders in order to uncover the many layers of their food system from farm to plate. Through leadership development and community-based research, CFA helps to equip advocates and change agents so they can better define the opportunities and challenges in their food system while working together to solve them.
Eastern Kentucky Farm to Table
Eastern Kentucky Farm to Table seeks to map available resources, build demand and production capacity, and serve as a local food champion in order to bridge the distance between producer and consumer in Eastern Kentucky farming communities.
