CFA members are creating a locally innovative food economy (LIFE) to replace the existing agricultural economy with a community-controlled system whereby Kentuckians consume the majority of their food products grown and processed in Kentucky.

The mission of the FMSP is to provide Kentucky Farmers Markets with the rools, resources, and network development with enable each market to built a better outlet for producers while increasing food access for all consumers.

ALI is designed to provide a pathway to the land for new farmers. This program works to identify the specific needs of beginning farmers while providing them with a support system that offers peer-to-peer learning, mentorship, access to resource information, and a voice before policymakers.

The APPALachians Together Restoring the Eating Environment project is a joint community-university research and demonstration project which seeks to increase access to healthy foods in Eastern Kentucky.

Also called Breaking Beans, the Appalachian Food Story Project seeks to tell the story of how local food and farming in Eastern Kentucky can contribute to a bright future in the mountains.

A Community Food System Assessment is a tool to help communities collaborate with diverse stakeholders in order to uncover the many layers of their food system from farm to plate. Through leadership development and community-based research, CFA helps to equip advocates and change agents so they can better define the opportunities and challenges in their food system while working together to solve them.
