CareNet Pregnancy Medical Center

Individuals facing an unplanned pregnancy can meet with a volunteer client advocate. Advocates know that each situation is unique and important. They provide each patient with accurate, up-to-date information about all options including parenting, abortion, and adoption to help each person make an informed choice.

CareNet converted into a medical center in 2008 and opened a thrift store named, “LoRita’s Open Door.” This store benefits our patients who participate in an “Earn While You Learn” Program, which teaches needed parenting skills, prenatal information, budgeting, and other appropriate topics. Those committed to the program are eligible to “shop” in the store to purchase needed items with vouchers they earn through their participation.
This project offers education and assistance to women who are pregnant. Every woman desires to be the best mother she can possibly be. Each patient is given the opportunity to sign up for the program at their first counseling appointment. We hold three sessions a month; one for each trimester, one session per month that covers first aid, and one session each quarter concerning hospital preparation. This gives the patient the opportunity to feel confident in her parenting skills to prepare her for childbirth, and to gain budgeting knowledge.
We added parenting classes for mothers who have children up to the age of five. They also receive vouchers to spend in the store from the work they do.

Immediately after an abortion, many women report a sense of relief. They are often surprised to find that abortion can be a traumatic experience, and that in some cases "post abortion stress" symptoms don't appear until many years later. Not every woman who has an abortion will experience symptoms of post abortion stress. However, for those that do, CareNet is here to help each person through that process.

We are adopting the initiative as our “Joseph Project.” The name, originally coined by CareNet National, comes from the nativity story and how God wisely prepared not just a mother, but also a father for the coming of the baby Jesus. Research has shown that more than 80% of post-abortive women have stated they would have chosen to carry to term if they would have had life-affirming support from the father of their baby.Many of these men have never had anyone speak a message of life-affirming compassion, hope and help into their lives – and we aim to do just that.We believe a present and involved father is an important piece of the well-being of every child.  This program will be welcoming the men as clients. It will be engaging in conversations with the men about their role as the child's father and in the mothers.  This program is focused on talking with the father about his concerns and feelings on the pregnancy. It will also include classes for male clients.
