Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
You Can Ministries began in 1981 as a collaborative social change project to help low-income families with emergency needs. We shared office space with our collaborative partners until each effort needed its own space. We moved into our first (donated) office space in 1994. Since then You Can Ministries relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, because it is a central location that will enable us to serve more people in the Mid-South region. We provide a small business incubator, employment procurement assistance and training, crime prevention programs, housing assistance and referrals, and we provide a daily telephone check-in service for seniors to help them maintain their independence. We provide opportunities for our clients to give back to the community, as our Goodwill Ambassadors. Once we help them, we ask them to tell others about us and refer them to us for assistance. If you would like to provide general support or post a job, please feel free to give us a call @ 901-273-3727.
J.I.F.F.Y.
J.I.F.F.Y is our Jobs in the Future Program. We help our clients find living wage jobs, so they can take care of their own needs without having to depend on others.
FATHER FIGURES
Father Figures is a new program to help fathers get more involved in the lives of their children, provide for them financially and spend quality time with them.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goal is to create the long-term financial support this organization needs by creating jobs for the people we serve then get them to give back and refer others to us.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Children are the future. If we don't help the people raising these children they will not be ready to lead in the future, so You Can Ministries welcomes this challenge. We are addressing unmet needs now to create long-term support for our efforts to revitalize our community and supply leaders for the future.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Over 30 years of experience creating jobs and proving other services in the community. We are seeking a hand up so we can pass it on.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
"I retired to nurse my mother back to health and suffered three strikes trying to take care of her by myself. Working to revitalize this organization is therapy for me and it will hopefully create a paying job for me and many others.".
