Speakers Bureau

A service that provides talks to civic, church, social service or other groups about various topics related to parenting or child abuse.

Population(s) Served

Parenting Groups which are open to all parents wanting to learn more about parenting their childrin in a positive way in order to build healthy relationships with their children.

 

Each parenting class meets weekly throughout the year and offers a combination of education and support.  Group Facilitators provide information that is useful in helping parents work toward improving parenting skills.  Classes are offered to parents with children newborn to 17.  These classes are free.

Population(s) Served

The Nurturing Program goals are to develop positive self-concept and self esteem in all family members.  To build an awareness regarding the needs of thers and teach alternative discipline techniques other than hitting and yelling.  This program is designed to bring awareness of needs, strengths, and weaknesses.  Goals are set to increase family communiation, awareness of the needs of family members, develop nurturing parenting behaviors, promote healthy physical and emotional development, and build family support and closeness.

Population(s) Served

Parent Aides help parents learn to build their self-confidence, self-esteem and coping skills.  Parent Aides assist parents to benefit by helping them to understand the developmental needs of their children, positive behavior management strategies and discipline techniques while learning how to manage their home environment more effectively.

 

Parent Aides will meet with parents weekly, for a period of six months.

Parents learn and provide assistance through their own personal experiences from each other.  This group is designed to both develop and enhance strong, loving relatinships between parents and their children.
