Research & Education

Through waste reduction and recycling policies, the CAWF seeks to reduce depletion of virgin resources and the associated environmental and economic costs. CAWF conducts research, publishes and disseminates documented materials regarding economic benefits of waste reduction and recycling policies ($98,396). It also campaigns to encourage consumers and manufacturers to purchase secondary materials and founded Southern California Recycled Paper Coalition ($14,413). One of CAWFs recent accomplishments was completing its "Jobs In Recycling Campaign," consisting of the research and dissemination of information indicating significant economic benefits from recycling policies.

Population(s) Served

Calls attention to problematic claims made by manufacturers of consumer products that claim to have an environmental benefit. Often times, such claims on packaging or goods have no environmental benefits whatsoever over traditional products. This removes barriers to littering, causes consumer mistrust and confusion, and contaminates traditional recycling streams.
