What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
American Monastery Construction
In December 2006, the Church acquired 165 acres of land in Lake County, California on which to establish the first major Monastery and Soul Therapy® Retreat Center of His Holiness Buddha Maitreya, the American born incarnation of Buddha Maitreya. For many years, His Holiness has worked ceaselessly to help rebuild and support Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries in China (Tibet), India and Nepal. This is His Holiness' first western monastery project.
The monastery is currently under construction but we need your help today to keep construction moving forward and raise the $2.35 million to complete the first phase of the project - the construction of the monastery itself as well as installing solar and wind generators, finishing roads and trails and constructing greenhouses for the aquaponic and hyrdoponic systems.
Roads, wells and general infrastructure are now in place. As with all holy temples and sacred sites, the monastery will be built in a sacred geometric pattern. His Holiness has designed the monastery based on the Shambhala Star with a central 51 degree pyramid aligned due north and surrounding Monolthic Domes.
The Church is working with its own construction team and building is well under way. Monolthic domes are sustainable buildings that are fire proof, energy efficient and built to last an average of 1000 years. The shells of the first two domes have been completed together with the Pyramid and it is hoped to have the monastery operational within the next several months. Solar cells and wind generators are being installed, together with aquaponic farming for food, making the Church of Shambhala Monastery a fully self sufficient American Buddhist Christian Community.
Nepal Free Clinic Program
Buddha Maitreya and Tulku Mandarava Tara have established and support three Free Clinics and Treatment Centers in Nepal offering basic allopathic medical services, pathology testing as well as homeopathy, counseling and Soul Therapy without charge to those most in need. For many in Nepal healthcare is an impossibility as there is no free healthcare offered... a third world country with high levels of sickness and poverty.
The Clinics also provide outreach services to the local monasteries to ensure the monks and nuns have regular access to basic healthcare which had been a big problem and one of the first that Buddha Maitreya and Tara addressed when they began their charitable work and dharma activities in Nepal in the early 1990s.
The Clinics cost about $2250 a month to run (about £1900) and we rely solely on your kind support to ensure they are funded. This goes a long way in Nepal - supporting the running costs of three clinics located in Kathmandu, neighboring city of Bhaktapur and in the rural pilgrimage town of Pharping. Three physicians are employed as well a lab technician and support staff.
Helping the Needy
Buddha Maitreya the Christ, and His wife Mandarava Tara, are creating ongoing food programs to provide 'Prasadam' in various holy areas around the world. Their program started in March of 2019 in the greater Kathmandu Nepal area near many holy Buddhist sites.
The programs have continued to expand to include Glastonbury, England (UK), site of the first church of Jesus the Christ; Omaha, Nebraska (USA), site of Native Tribes in the Heartland of America; and Lake County, California (USA) near the Shambhala Monastery.
Sangha (monks and nuns of the Shambhala Monastery), volunteers and our Food Program team in Nepal visit these locations - some of them daily - providing meals to the needy, the homeless, disabled/senior centers, schools, orphanages, and monasteries. Each meal costs around $3.50.
We are continuing to expand the size of the program, as we are able, to feed and support more of those in need. So your ongoing patronage and support for charity for others is greatly appreciated!
We are are a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the USA (EIN 6800396112) and UK registered charity (# 1069944). Your kind donation will be tax deductible if applicable.
UPDATE ON NEPAL FOOD PROGRAMS - OCTOBER 2020:
In these challenging times, the team in Nepal is continuing the food program to provide packages of food in a safe and comfortable way to needy community school families, in co-ordination with and according to the area municipalities and ward offices of community schools.
