Listening for A Change

Essence of Acceptance: a secondary and college level curriculum that brings community members who have suffered a loss of human rights into schools to share their stories. Students learn interviewing techniques, do reflective thinking and create service learning projects. Community Listening Project: Crosses boundaries by training people to interview others from diverse cultural backgrounds. Recorded interviews become a part of an historical archive and are used to generate public conversation through posters, radio and television. We are currently analyzing existing interviews and preparing an informational report. Diversity & Inclusion: Takes Listening for a Change's mission of promoting understanding and acceptance of human diversity to the workplace. Employers and employees learn active listening skills to interact more effectively within their own work culture and with clients, customers and patients served.
