What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Indigent Care program
The indigent care program of Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. is a hospice and palliative care program providing the same services to patients and their families, regardless of their ability to pay for those services.
****The cost for providing hospice and palliative care services is totally dependent on the length of life of each patient, the disease process and the severity of the disease. Hospice care covers the medication and durable medical equipment for the patient relating to the terminal diagnosis.***
No One Dies Alone Program
No One Dies Alone is a new program of Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. aimed at providing volunteers to have round the clock vigils for patients who may die alone with no family or friends present. The goal of the program is to make sure patients do not die alone in pain or fear. Currently the program is taking place in Lafayette. As soon as support is garnered for other communities, we will expand the program.
***Currently there is no budget for the program. The costs are part of the volunteer program itself.
Bereavement Program
The Center for Loss and Transition of Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. provides an aftercare bereavement program, a safe place to:
Explore life, losses and transitions
Look at your pattern of dealing with change
Get in touch with feelings in order to deal with them
Heal mind, body, and soul
Discern your new path in life
The Center serves individuals and families who are in crisis and need extra help, information and support as a result of loss and grief, bereavement, illness, life transitions and concurrent life problems. The program is free to both hospice families and the general public.
The program is implemented by licensed social workers and grief counselors. There are workshops, individual therapy, group therapy as well as phone call and mailout follow ups.
