Our is to enable and empower individuals with disabilities and their families by providing, information, referral, education, training, peer support and advocacy skills.

 

Our is that all individuals with disabilities have the opportunity to attend school, live, work and play in their own community.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

FHF SWLA maintains a regional family resource center in rural Southwest Louisiana to support a variety of programs including LA's Parent Training and Information Center, Early Steps LA's Infants/Toddler Services,; LaTEACH - LA Together Educating ALL Children and initiative of the LA Developmental Disabilities Council, outreach for the Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities and the Louisiana State Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities. We manage and perform several local programs. We contract with local providers to perform other programs and we receive local funding from foundations and corporate sponsors to operate our Sibshop workshops, our Teddy Bear Outreach, People First Group, our special needs library and our on line research program/statewide Web site management. All our services and programs are provided free of charge to people with all types of disabilities, their families and professionals which serve them.
