Sunny Beaches

Sunny Beaches' original cleanup area was from south of Bob Hall Pier to the 10-mile marker at Padre Island National Seashore (PINS.) Our New Frontier program extended our cleanup area south to the 35-mile sign at PINS. We serve more than 950 court-assigned workers per year, and the beneficiaries who enjoy a cleaner beach include 300,000 residents in Kenedy, Kleberg, and Nueces counties, the visitors to PINS, and wintering Texans. Sunny Beaches is also a Survey Director at PINS for the Ocean Conservancy's National Marine Debris Monitoring Program, performing a scientific protocol every 28 days at two designated PINS sites, recording the types and amounts of marine debris collected there, to determine the common sources of marine debris worldwide.
