What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
The more than 1,100 staff and employees of Phoenix Children"s Hospital continue to adapt to meet the changing needs of Arizona"s families. For example: In response to the trend toward shorter hospital stays, we introduced a children"s home care program. To address the problem of delayed treatment for a growing number of uninsured children, we sought grant funding and launched three school-based clinics in needy neighborhoods. Concerned about the deplorable incidence of child abuse in Arizona, we initiated a program focused on abuse prevention. In an effort to combat poor air quality in Phoenix and the rise in children"s respiratory problems, we created a "breathmobile" clinic-on-wheels to visit area elementary schools for screening and treatment. To counteract the alarming number of water fatalities, we created a pool safety program to educate parents and others. To meet the need for outpatient care, we opened outpatient facilities in Mesa, Scottsdale, and Glendale, extending the services of our downtown specialty care center into surrounding communities. In response to the demands of an ever-growing pediatric population, we are creating a new hospital on a 22-acre site as the first comprehensive free standing children"s hospital in Arizona.
