What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Overall mandate

Initially, our major effort was to provide support and assistance from US-based donors to Save the Elephants - whose headquarters are based in Nairobi, Kenya, and administered by world reknown conservationist, Dr. Iain Douglas-Hamilton. In 2001, we added, The Bill Woodley Mount Kenya Trust (MKT), and in 2003 we added, African Conservation Foundation (ACF). Friends of Africa International is able to collect funds for STE, MKT and ACF and other grass roots projects as approved, which are tax-deductible to US taxpayers. For more information, please refer to the following web sites: www.SavetheElephants.org, MountKenyaTrust.com, and www.AfricanConservation.org.

FOAI also supports a number of smaller grassroots efforts throughout Africa. In addition, FOAI presents conservation-based and African cultural programs in the Aspen, Colorado area.
