What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Mission Statement:
Founded in 1983, The Art Studio, Inc. is devoted to providing opportunities for interactions between the public and the Southeast Texas community artists; to furnish affordable studio space to visual and performing artists in any stage of their creative development; to preserve the historic and contemporary cultural heritage of the Arts in southeast Texas and to preserve the knowledge and skills of the Arts to pass on to our next generation; to be culturally inclusive through outreach to all our diverse communities, finding a common bond through the arts; to make available teaching and learning opportunities for individuals, educational groups and organizations; to be diligent in in our pursuit to provide equal service without regard to religion, income, race, national origin, gender, LGBTQ communities or people with disabilities.

Goals
1. To present 9 art exhibitions annually
2. To present 10 musical concerts annually
3. To provide regularly scheduled classes for adults, teens and children
4.To provide workspace and support for artists in Southeast Texas
5.To provide peer feedback through association with other artists and craftspeople through collective sales opportunities and fine art exhibitions.
Objectives
1. To utilize our events as a means to create interaction between the community of artists and the public of Southeast Texas
2. To maintain studios, facilities and support for Southeast Texas artists in a safe and open environment
3. To provide better access for the public to the community of artists.

5. To develop and maintain arts activities with all sectors of the community
6. To continue provide a venue for originating musicians and performing artists
7. To provide a display outlet for artists /crafts persons biannually.
8. To expand programming and activities through development of additional studios and classrooms in the facility.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
•Continue to outreach to the diverse communites of Southeast Texas through Social media and going to public events to reach a new audience.
• to seek out and engage artists whether new to the area or or a young artists learning their skills. We focus on engaging artists of color and artists with disabilities because they have been maginalized in the past. We also are open to adapting our organization to an art groups needs if at all possible.
•We are organizing a capital campaign "Raise the Roof" to address our leaky roof issues.
Roof Reconstruction: in a community with over 80" of rain a year and regular hurricanes and storms a good roof is essential. We currenntly have a matching grant challenge on part of the Roof project concerning the two metal roofs over our facility. The Main roof is a 7,200 Sq. Ft. flat tar roof that will be completely insulated and reconstructed to provide a 25-30 year guarantee. with the roof insulated we can look ahead to A/C for the entire facility.
• We just got funded for Streaming Equipment to have an electronic media presence and world outreach. Classes, lectures, group chats and other means to reach those who cannot come to the facility.
•Along with streaming we are still publishing and recieved a grant to build our publishing footprint and continue our newspaper, ISSUE, along with Zines for the younger crowd.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Art Studio was established as an artist nonprofit organization in 1983. with little or no money we cobbled together Sq. Ft.
We have many resources of generating income without assistance from foundations or grants. through innovative marketing and an open atmosphere we maintain a capacity of artists accessing space and materials at a reasonable rate. for 35 years we have maintained all these goals and are currently in a developmental stage to upgrade worn equipment and increased space for work. through membership, art sales, studio equipment charges, clay sales, donations, door fees and payments for classes. We have healthy and diverse form of income with continuous hype and participatory events.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have addressed almost all of our goals of our prevoius Strategic meeting. Our next goal is major upgrades in our current facility by adding a additional building to house more sculpture and ceramic studios, rebuild kiln equipment and creating better accessibility as expected through the ADA compliance laws. the expansion will allow us to open the old clay studio to being a performance center to offer regular theater and music events through the studio and independent groups as well as special events through a versatile venue. Satellite studios in nearby communities and retail/ class outlets can also be imagined.

- We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We disaggregate data by demographics, including race, in every policy and program measured.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
