What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

The Creative Education Program provides grants, teacher training and technical assistance to Santa Clara County public elementary schools to ensure the inclusion of arts education in the curriculum. Cultural Initiatives currently has worked with 75% of the elementary school districts in the county. Our Participatory Arts Program (formerly the Community and Neighborhood Arts Program) fosters the development of participatory arts across the region and into our neighborhoods. In 2004, "Immigrant Participatory Arts: An Insight into Community-building in Silicon Valley" was published; a follow-up study on participatory arts will be published in 2005. The Cultural Leadership Program (formerly the Leadership Development Program) encourages Silicon Valley's business and civic leaders to visibly support our region's cultural development and participation through seminars, research and Great Cities, an interactive computer simulation game. In 2002 Cultural Initiatives published "The Creative Community Index," a comprehensive benchmarking assessment of the health and vitality of arts and culture in Silicon Valley. This research study will be repeated in 2005.
