What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Brain Mapping Project
In addition to our vast library we also are conducting a Pediatric Brain Mapping Project that serves as the first step to developing mechanisms to connect patients with ongoing or future clinical trials. Currently we have approximately, 6,000 constituents, many of whom are scientists, physicians, and therapists, but the majority of our members are parents.

The Groundbreaking Research Grant
The Pediatric Brain Foundation accepts proposals each year that work in support of innovative, high-risk, high-reward research projects that could ultimately lead to critical discoveries or major advancements that accelerate the field of pediatric neurology. The Groundbreaking Research Grant program is designed to promote new ideas; those innovative ideas that may introduce a new paradigm, challenge an existing paradigm, look at existing problems from new perspectives, or exhibit other uniquely creative qualities. Research must be broadly related to pediatric neurological function, disease, genetics and trauma, or to related clinical, basic science, bioengineering or biotechnology, and public health problems, including neuromuscular disorders.
Palmer’s Smile (Family Grant)
Palmer’s Smile is a special grant that provides children and their families with direct financial support. According to the CDC, it is estimated that it costs at least $17,000 more each year to care for a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder than one without. For children suffering from cerebral palsy or other forms of intellectual disabilities their medical costs are 10 times higher than children without.
The Young Scientist Fund
The Young Scientists fund is a unique fund that awards “young investigators” with fellowships to begin exploring new research questions related to the developing brain and therapies’.
We will also begin nurturing young minds through a summer institute (collaborating with LSP) to help empower the next generation of scientists and neurologists. The Summer Institute focuses on educating children ages 3-5, in a fun playful environment. The curriculum focuses on basic brain function and outlines the scientific method. Children become scientists and use equipment they may see in a science lab.
Pediatric Brain Foundation Advocates Library and Connection
Our online library has connected over 6,000 families and scientists to the latest news and information on a variety of different topics related to neurological and traumatic brain injuries.
Our online library is currently home to thousands of articles, studies and medical papers that continue help educate our visitors. We update our library each day to ensure that any parent, family member, advocate, scientist or medical professional has one place for trusted news and developments.
Our Library also hosts a dedicated Disease Directory and Glossary. Like most Libraries we also have research assistants to assist in compiling data on specific diagnosis and subjects,
It is our sincere hope that our online Advocates Library will help to further educate parents and put them in contact with support teams within their local communities.
