What we aim to solve
Poverty and illiteracy among the poorest members of Congo's citizens is devastating countless lives every year. Only 55% of the people in Congo even complete 5th grade. Among orphans, this rate is even worse as they have very little help.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Orphan Aid
Operational program: Ongoing monthly support of 40 children orphaned by civil war and AIDS. Funds are allocated for food, schooling, health care, and housing as needed. Capital program: A primary school is in the progress of being built to provide basic educational needs for the orphans. Land has been acquired and the school will be built when funds are obtained.
School Construction
Construction of school building serving orphans and local students with primary and secondary education.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Increase our ability to aid 80 orphans on a monthly basis.
Complete construction of the school facility.
Send teachers to Congo.
Planning for fresh water well, clinic and orphanage.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We believe in helping people help themselves. Breaking the cycle of poverty is critical to ending the plight of orphans and we believe is best achieved through providing for education while meeting their daily needs for food, shelter, clothing, medical care. By educating these children, they will be able to rise out of their desperate situations.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We work in partnership with a local minister in Congo-Kinshasa, who is native to country. This ensures funds and assistance is given to people who truly need it.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have been able to maintain consistent support since 2005. While others have dropped support for Bishop Bofata, we have been able to remain as a steady source of support for his work.
We have not been able to complete the construction work on the school to open it. We had hoped to open 4 school rooms in Sept 2012, but funding limitations prevented it. As of Sept 2017, we have three classrooms open, and have 13 more to go.
In 2016, A well for drinking water was drilled which now provides clean drinking water for the school and surrounding area. For 2018, we hope to open two more classrooms and start offering high school level classes.
