Program Overview
Arapahoe House provides three non-medical facilities where persons may safely detoxify from alcohol and other drugs.
During their stay, clients are routinely monitored for withdrawal complications including elevated vitals, tremors, sweats, and other complications. The withdrawal process can be as short as a few hours or as long as several days depending upon the drug used, patterns of use, and withdrawal history of the client.
All clients receive a substance abuse evaluation and are provided referrals to continuing treatment, if needed. Often, staff will provide motivational counseling to those clients who are not yet aware of the severity of their substance use problem or are not yet motivated themselves to stop abusing substances.
Stepwise
Arapahoe House offers an array of outpatient services for adolescents and their families who have substance use and/or mental health disorders. Outpatient and intensive outpatient services are offered for adolescents ages 12 – 21 stepping down from a more intensive level of treatment (residential/inpatient) or for teens who are unable to maintain ongoing abstinence from drugs and/or alcohol. Outpatient services allow the client to receive treatment and continue to live at home and attend school or work.
Arapahoe House also offers a full range of entire family focused, comprehensive treatment. Individual and family sessions support the goal of living in recovery from drugs and alcohol. Families are encouraged to attend all of the family therapy sessions as it increases the adolescentʼs success.Family/support system involvement varies depending on the situation and the needs of the client.
