Discovering Opportunities for Outreach and Reflection
See the Face of God in the City
Mission
Discovering Opportunities for Outreach and Reflection (DOOR) is a faith-based network of cities that provides opportunities for service, learning, and leadership development within the urban context. DOOR is an opportunity to encounter the city through the eyes, ears, and heart of God. We are dedicated to providing high quality, life-changing experiences for our participants, staff, board members, and the people in the communities where we are established. Our programming is rooted in the strength of local churches and communities, mutual respect, a culture of welcome and hospitality, and thoughtful reflection.

1. Expose people in a direct way to the city. Participants will spend from a weekend to one year living in an urban context, working with various helping agencies, churches and ministries already present in the community.
2. Educate people by spending time reflecting on the gifts as well as the needs of urban people and the communities in which they live. Participants will be asked to think about their lives and lifestyles.
3. Challenge people to consider Biblical responses to the issues of poverty, racism, and injustice facing the city, developing in them an awareness of the multiple ministry opportunities available both in the city and in their home town.
4. Motivate people to act in constructive, appropriate and loving ways both now and in the future, asking individuals to consider ministry and service an essential daily part of living out their authentic Christian faith.

Organizational Demographics
In order to support nonprofits and gain valuable insight for the sector, GuideStar worked with D5—a five-year initiative to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in philanthropy—in creating a questionnaire. This section is a voluntary questionnaire that empowers organizations to share information on the demographics of who works in and leads organizations. To protect the identity of individuals, we do not display sexual orientation or disability information for organizations with fewer than 15 staff. Any values displayed in this section are percentages of the total number of individuals in each category (e.g. 20% of all Board members for X organization are female).
