Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Petco Adoption Program
Twice a month A New Beginning volunteers visit the local Petco Store in Hampton. We set up and show our adoptable cats to the public. We place an add in the local paper as well as advertise our event with posted flyers several days before the event.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Rescue abandoned and stray cats and kittens in cities of Hampton, Newport News, York and Poquoson VA.
Prepare rescues for adoption by providing medical and rehabilitation services.
Work with local Veterinarians and Animal Control organization to rehome cats in their care.
Educate and assist the public on cat rescue and care.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Advertise rescued cats and kittens that are available for adoption on our Web Site.
Post rescued cats and kittens on web sites managed by national rescue groups such a Petfinder and Adopt A Pet.
Partner with PETCO and local merchants on Adoption Events.
Apply for grants from our PETCO Partnership and secure other funding by utilizing services such as PayPal, Amazon Smile and special activities at Adoption Events.
Advertise in local newspapers.
Work with pet owners to help then keep their cats and kittens rather then surrendering or abandoning them.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Use our web site at http://www.anewbeginningfeline.org/ to advertise available pets. Animals available for adoption are posted on the web site along with pictures. Each cat or kitten has a web page which includes multiple photographs, descriptions and other information.
Notices, news and events are posted on the site and are automatically sent to registered users in e-mail format. We are also able to post information on successful adoptions.
Liaison with local Veterinarians on services we have available to help find homes for cats and kittens. Local Animal Control Officers frequently turn in abandoned or injured cats and kittens to local Veterinarians. We do courtesy listings of these animals on our web site or take custody of these animals to find them homes.
Use Foster Care to house and care for rescued cats and kittens. We do not have a shelter but keep all of our rescues in homes where they receive individual attention. By doing this, we can better socialize them and be more aware of their personalities and any special needs they may have. Result is better match of cat and family at adoption.
Provide advise and recommendations to pet owners on problems and issues which they are having with their cats and kittens.
Use PETA to provide low cost spay/neuter and other medical services.
Trap stray and abandoned cats and kittens.
Work with other cat rescue organizations to manage and care for the feral cat population in our area.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
The following data is for 2013:
Rescued cats and kittens: 54
Adopted: 33
Returned to owner: 2
Adoption Events with PETCO Partner: 26
Assistance provided to public (courtesy listings, advise/referrals, space at Adoption Events, etc): 55 apx
