What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program
Each year the Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program (AYSP)serves approximately 500 students from over 90 public, private, home and alternative schools in a 4-county area in and around Albuquerque, New Mexico. Students participate in one of ten AYSP large ensembles: Elementary String Project Level 1 for 4th graders beginning to learn violin, viola, or cello; Elementary String Project Level 2 for 5th graders who have completed Level 1; Preparatory String Orchestra for 4-5 grades; Junior String Orchestra, Junior Band, Junior Orchestra and Junior Symphony for grades 6-8; and Youth Concert Orchestra, Youth Orchestra and Youth Symphony for grades 9-12. AYSP also offers a supplemental chamber music program to students in grades 9-12 and a marimba ensemble for students in grades 6-8. AYSP requires students to be enrolled and participate in their respective school band or orchestra programs, if offered. In this way, AYSP enhances - and is not a substitute for - school music programs.
