Gesher's Services

What Gesher does for YOU:
* Provide inclusion support at schools and camps
* Lead disability training for teachers, counselors and madrich
* Plan social groups for adults and children with disabilities
* Host monthly joyous and inclusive Simchat Shabbat services
* Introduce families to local and online disability resources
* Guild adults with disabilities to residential readiness
* Conduct educational forums and workshops

Gesher's special education teachers, Student Support Specialists, are the resource professionals for local Jewish Day Schools for students who have been identified as having learning challenges. Meeting with teachers and families are part of providing a well-rounded educational experience for each student. Outside of the classroom, Student Support Specialists work with students one-on-one for online tutoring assisting reading, math and executive functioning. Online Tutoring is available to all students with a private pay option.

Simchat Shabbat is a monthly Shabbat service inclusive and accessible to all. The prayer book (siddur) used is written in Hebrew, Hebrew transliteration, and English. This "no shush" service lasts 45 minutes. Gesher members along with their friends and family sing, tell stories from the week's Torah portion, and relate to their something wonderful that has happened in their life since the last service. Simchat Shabbat started in 2008 and was designed to be an in person services. COVID required changes making services available online for anyone who would like to participate.
