Mission

Osteoporosis is an underdiagnosed and misunderstood disease. It affects 810,000 Arizonans, and medical costs in our state are $236 million per year. AzOC exists to educate the public and healthcare industry about the disease and screen individuals in an effort to educate them about prevention.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

We reach more than 1,000 people per year in our osteoporosis screening efforts - mainly in rural areas where healthcare access is a problem. We also maintain an educational website at www.fitbones.org, conduct an annual healthcare provider conference, provide other educational forums, and keep the disease in front of the state legislature.
