THE PURPOSE OF THE CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF FAMILY EMPOWERMENT CENTERS IS TO PROVIDE INFORMATION, RESOURCES, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND SYSTEMS CHANGE ADVOCACY TO A STATEWIDE NETWORK OF LOCAL FAMILY EMPOWERMENT CENTERS (FECS) WHO PROVIDE FAMILY EDUCATION, SUPPORT, EMPOWERMENT, ADVOCACY, AND PARENT-PROFESSIONAL COLLABORATIVE ACTIVITIES TO FAMILIES OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES AGES 3-22 YEARS OLD.

FAMILY PARTICIPATION FUND (FPF). THROUGH THE STATE IMPROVEMENT GRANT, THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION ESTABLISHED THE FAMILY PARTICIPATION FUND TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO FAMILIES. THE FUND ASSISTS FAMILIES WHO DO NOT HAVE ANY OTHER AGENCY SUPPORT TO BECOME ACTIVE MEMBERS OF DECISTION-MAKING COMMITTEES, TASK FORCES AND OTHER POLICY-MAKING BODIES. THE FAMILY PARTICIPATION FUND PROVIDES ASSISTANCE FOR FAMILY MEMBERS TO ATTEND PARTICIPATE IN POLICY-MAKING MEETINGS.
