What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Garden Classroom Field Trips
Every Kindergarten through Sixth Grade class in Grand County School District and the Moab Charter School attends a 90 minute field trip at the Youth Garden Project's 1.5 acre garden. During the field trip, students engage in a curriculum based lesson through hands-on activities, experiments, and exploration. Each lesson is aligned with grade level core curriculum standards set by the State of Utah, and developed in collaboration with district educators.
Summer Day Camp
9 weeks of learning, growing, playing, exploring, and having fun at YGP! Our Summer Day Camp is offered in one week sessions with a different theme each week. Each day is full of activities related to the week's theme, time in the garden, two healthy snacks, and time to play at the park or in the creek during the hot summer afternoons.
YGP's summer day camp is educational, fun, safe, engaging and a great place for kids to spend their summer break from school. While at camp, kids build positive relationships with their peers and adults, they let their creativity shine, and they create wonderful summer memories!
Tuition assistance is offered to any qualifying family so no family is turned away due to an inability to pay registration fees.
Weed n' Feed
The weed n' feed program at YGP gives an opportunity to community members to volunteer doing light garden work for 1 1/2 hours and then volunteers and YGP staff enjoy a garden-prepared meal together.
Community Supported Agriculture Program
30 Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares are sold at the beginning of each season to community members. Each share member picks up one basket of produce biweekly during the growing season.
Seed Crew
Seed Crew is YGP's summer youth development and employment program for youth ages 14-18. Over nine weeks of summer vacation, we bring on two or more Moab youth to work together and gain sustainable agriculture knowledge & skills, while also developing leadership & civic engagement. They spend their days working hands-on in the garden, assisting with summer camp activities, and participating in workshops that address a variety of issues including experiential education, food access, social justice, life skills, and more!
