Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Community Health Education provides: 1)Year-round school-based programs to encourage young people to consider careers in the health professions and to build the math and science skills needed to succeed in them 2)Programs on making healthy choices ranging from sexual health issues to tobacco-free lifestyles for students in elementary, middle and high schools 3)Educational resources and other support for health science students 4)Training and support for families with pre-teen and teenaged children to encourage communication and healthy family dynamics 5)Community education programs to raise awareness and reduce the rates of child abuse and teen pregnancy 6)Outreach programs to encourage early detection of breast and cervical cancer, recruit women for screenings and assist women with appointments and follow-up care Professional Education provides: 1)Training, continuing education courses and support for health care professionals throughout the state 2)Specific HIV/AIDS education, resources and assistance to health care professionals including physicians, physicians assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, dentists, dental hygienists, pharmacists, and others 3)Education and outreach programs on prevention and adherence for AIDS patients and those living with AIDS 4)Statewide training for community leaders and decision makers on how to respond in the event of a chemical or biological attack 5)On-going training for health care providers to ensure a measured response to a chemical, nuclear, or biological attack, including a Training the Trainers curriculum designed to meet the requirements of AB250
