What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
CWJC students are enrolled in a 12 week semester which includes life skills classes and computer and job training courses. Women are provided a mentor to help work on her personal needs and/or goals and are provided tools/resources to help meet those needs. CWJC also provides professional clothing for each student to ensure they look and feel the successes they truly are. The clothes closet is also open to women in the community who are interviewing or just received employment. Education opportunity workshops are provided each semester for students better understand our local college and other area educational training opportunities. Domestic Violence workshops are provided each semester with students having the opportunity to discuss privately with a professional counselor.
Professonal counseling for students is now available for those in need.
In March 2008 Serenity was opened. Serenity is a long-term transitional home for women and their children who need an encourageing, safe and structured environment to live and work toward living independently and free of agency/government assistance. This is a huge need for our community, especially since the disasters of hurricanes. The current home is being leased. Seven women can live in the current residence. CWJC's goal is to purchase a larger home in 2009.
