Meet Me @Metro II

Meet Me @ Metro
will take place under the leadership of Guillermo Avilés-Rodriguez, Watts
Village Theater Company’s (WVTC’s) Artistic Director, and David Mack, WVTC’s
Managing Director. Meet Me @ Metro is a series of 10-minute site specific works
developed by a cutting edge, diverse, eclectic cohort of Los Angeles based
artists of various performance disciplines. The performances will take place
along the soon-to-be-completed Metro Expo Rail Corridor, running on an
East-West track through West and South Los Angeles, and will be performed over
the course of two weekends in September 2011. This will be the second annual
series of performances in what WVTC anticipates will become an annual
performance festival produced in partnership with Metro.

Meet Me @ Metro
is WVTC’s attempt at exploring isolationism in Los Angeles – both artistic and
demographic. It is also our way of bringing live performance to people who would
otherwise not be able to see it, and to draw theater-going audiences to places
where they would otherwise not go. The site-specific nature of this project
provides the added benefit of reaching accidental audience members who will
stumble upon the performances during their commute.
