Education ProgramsThe National PTA deals with a variety of education issues and develops current information, programs, and projects encouraging parents to participate in their children's education. Working in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education and other educational coalitions and organizations, the education department focuses on parent involvement initiatives and education issues affecting children and families.Arts in Education ProgramsThe National PTA supports the arts as part of a basic education and offers programs that reflect this effort.The Arts in Education Department of the National PTA focuses on advocacy in quality arts education. The National PTA also works with state PTAs to manage the Reflections program which recognizes students for achievement in the arts.Health and Safety ProgramsThe National PTA works closely with other national health agencies and organizations to provide comprehensive health and safety projects and materials for local and state PTAs. The Health and Welfare Department of the National PTA focuses on such issues as: Violence Prevention, Critical TV Viewing Skills, Environmental Awareness, HIV/AIDS Education, Raising Alcohol and Drug Free Children, Self Esteem in Children, School Bus Safety, and more.
