YWCA Alaska

The purpose of the Women’s Economic Empowerment Program is to provide support and training to women (and men) in the areas of financial management, small business development, and career enhancement. We empower individuals of diverse ethnic backgrounds, particularly those who are socially and economically disadvantaged, through comprehensive courses and counseling.

For 29 years, YWCA Alaska has honored women of achievement. The Women of Achievement Award Ceremony pays tribute to women who give of their time and energy to make our world a better place. It recognizes and honors women who have demonstrated qualities of leadership and excellence in their professional and personal endeavors as well as their contributions to the larger community. This annual program, inspiring to both women and men, encourages women and girls to develop into leaders in their community and professional roles. YWCA requests nominations through advertising through newsprint, social media and TV and radio media. A selection committee reviews all submitted applications and selects 10 awardees based on the award criteria. Each year we are honored to recognize the amazing women of our community and state, and celebrate their achievements.
