Goals & Strategy

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Stop the sale of wild turtles and tortoises in the pet trade.
Educate people about the long term problems of owning sulcata tortoises.
Stop the proliferation of live food markets throughout the US where turtles are sold for food n deplorable conditions.
Increase education in schools throughout the country about the danger of having turtles and tortoises in the classroom.
Educate about the care and feeding of all species of turtle and tortoise.

Using public relations and social media, American Tortoises Rescue is able to reach an international audience about the plight of turtles and tortoises throughout the world and how they can help.
Work with groups like Groupon Grassroots to help spread the message.
Work with the American Sanctuary Association to educate and stop cruelty.

The founders of ATR are executives in the public relations and video production fields who understand the basics of reaching large numbers of people through publicity, social media and video. We also use volunteers to help spread the word and spearhead projects.

The progress has been huge in the outreach with World Turtle Day. We expect it to grow.
The progress in stopping the live food markets has been stunted because Fish & Game resources throughout the country have failed to help us and the Asian community is using racial innuendos against us. Live markets are a cruelty and health & safety issue, not a racial issue.
