Mission
Clausen House creates opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities to gain competency, develop relationships and join the community with increasing command over their own lives. We provide Residential Services, Independent and Supported Living, Supported Employment, Adult Education, Housing and Recreational Programs. We celebrate the diversity of the Bay area and work towards reflecting this diversity throughout our organization.

Our programs

Adult Education
A daily program of activities and interactions designed to develop academic and social skills, a wide range of subjects are taught from basic money management, to basic computer skills, art, yoga, Spanish, photography and cooking.
Supported (Competitive) Employment
This program works with clients to develop appropriate work habits, helps with placement, and supports clients and employers to ensure success.
Independent and Supported Living Services
This service helps adults to live on their own while still giving them the support they need. Typical kinds of support include food shopping, medical assistance, household management and bill paying.
Residential Services
Clausen House owns and operates three residential homes which house 37 individuals (men and women) in cooperative living with trained staff on hand to provide meals and supports and services as needed.
Social Recreation
To assist our clients in feeling comfortable and engaged in the greater community, as well as provide them with entertaining events and activities, Clausen House operates a social recreation program for our residential clients. Recreational activities include theater, dance, symphony performances, sporting events, and vacation destinations in which clients interact with others in the greater community
