Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Foster children often do not have good outcomes, but that is not true for foster youth with a CASA volunteer advocating for them. CASA youth graduate from high school, go to college, and have regular medical and dental care. Unfortunately, CASA does not serve all 1,200 foster children in the county. Our goal is to serve 400 foster children a year by 2021. In the first year of our expansion we increased the number of foster youth served by 20% to 172. This year we will increase that number by 32% or 227 youth served.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Expansion Program
In FY 2016-17 the Board of Directors committed to a plan to increase the number of foster children served from 144/year to 400/year. In the first year of the program, CASA served 174 foster youth. In FY 2017-18 we will serve 227.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
CASA aims to be providing services to 400 foster children and youth a year by fiscal year 2021. The following are our service goals for each year:
Fiscal year 2016-17: 172 foster youth served
Fiscal year 2017-18: 227 foster youth served
Fiscal year 2018-19: 285 foster youth served
Fiscal year 2019-20: 341 foster youth served
Fiscal year 2020-21: 400 foster youth served
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
CASA plans an expansion of both our outreach and our training programs so that we are able to train 160 new CASA volunteers each year, which will allow us to reach the goals we have set.
The communication and outreach program will include the following new strategies:
1. Paid and donated online ad program
2. Paid and donated radio ads
3. Speaking engagements to community groups/radio and TV broadcasts
4. Paid advertising on Volunteer Match
5. Consistent branding and messages across all channels
The organization will continue to use other proven strategies such as newspaper and magazine ads, and articles, and recruitment through current volunteers.
In addition, we are restructuring our training so that some of the training is done online, which will allow more volunteers to participate, and we are adding both information and training sessions.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The organization has the staffing, and technical infrastructure to meet these goals. The plans have been developed and the staff is capable of implementing the programs and monitoring their success.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Our new communications and outreach strategy coupled with the restructuring of our training allowed us to serve 20% more foster children in fiscal year 2016-17. In fiscal year 2017-18, CASA will serve 30% more foster children than in fiscal year 2016-17.
