Program 1
Our organization consists of volunteers on our Board of Directors and International Leadership Board, as well as our membership body which consists of collegiate members at various universities and alumnae members of our National Alumnae Association.Aside from our Executive Director position, all national and chapter leadership positions are voluntary and seek to promote service leadership as well as experiences valuable to future career endeavors. Further, each chapter also has its own cabinet of positions. The International Leadership Board is also supported by several committees made up of alumna volunteers. The Board of Directors and International Leadership Board meet each Fall and Spring to work together on strategic planning, leadership development, and program development. Nationally, aKDPhi hosts three meetings per academic school year which consist of the Back to School Retreat, Midyear Meeting and National Convention. During each conference, collegiate members are trained to uphold our purpose and mission. We host leadership training, guest speakers, and provide opportunities to network with alumnae in order to establish professional connections. Our organization supports scholarship by holding academic study hours at each of the chapter campuses. Each member must comply with University and sorority academic standards in order to remain an active member of alpha Kappa Delta Phi. Annually at our National Convention, the chapter with the highest grade point average is awarded with the Scholastic Excellence Award. All members of alpha Kappa Delta Phi support philanthropy, and individual chapters are required to participate in a minimum of two service activities per term. Our international philanthropy is Breast Cancer Awareness, and chapters spend the month of October engaged in service dedicated to this area in their various communities. This year, chapters held various fundraisers and workshops. The contributions were donated to the aKDPhi Foundation, then distributed via grants to organizations advancing the fight against breast cancer, especially those serving minority populations.Lastly, our organization promotes Asian Awareness in the universities and communities by hosting cultural awareness events and participating in campus organizations (i.e. Chinese American Student Association, Vietnamese Student Association, Japanese Student Association, etc.). Our members strive to uphold our organization's purpose and values, and the chapter who has best exemplified all our pillars is recognized as Chapter of the Year.Based on all of the information above, our organization has fulfilled its purpose as an exempt organization that uses all funding to provide sisterhood, scholarship, leadership, service and Asian Awareness in the universities and communities through various events and training. We are nonprofit and pay insurance premiums to ensure the safety of our members and organization.
