Community Family Guidance Center

The mission of Community Family Guidance Center (CFGC), founded in 1976, is to help Southeast Los Angeles County’s underserved children and their families heal from trauma, abuse, emotional, behavioral and mental health issues through proven interventions and compassionate guidance. We provide direct outpatient Non-Intensive Mental Health Services and Intensive Mental Health Services in partnership with Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health to 2,648 low-income children and youth (ages 0–21) and families annually. We are developing a new Wellness Program to build programmatic flexibility. Our mental health, therapeutic, educational, socio-emotional and case management services are provided in Southeast Los Angeles County. We serve clients at Cerritos, Downey and Bell offices, local schools, and in participants’ homes. We also operate a Teaching Institute in collaboration with University of Southern California’s School of Social Work to provide trainings to Master of Social Work students.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our goal is to provide a safe haven for children and their families in need of professional, cultural, and linguistically appropriate mental health services across the Southeast Los Angeles County area.

We are ensuring access to mental health services by establishing satellite offices in areas of need as well as partnering with schools and community partners to provide on-field services.

Our partnerships with school districts, donors, elected officials and the Department of Mental Health Services.

Last year, we served 1,400 new kids with limited space. This next year we plan on expanding our Bell site to serve more children in that area.
