Mission Statement

Offering outdoor recreation to thousands of children and families for more than three decades, Elings Park is a dynamic local institution that encourages active, healthy lifestyles throughout the region. One of Santa Barbara's most popular urban parks and natural areas, the Park is also the centerpiece of a growing public landscape assembled at the southern end of Las Positas Canyon along Arroyo Burro Creek and the Pacific Ocean. which will enhance its stature and civic importance.

Elings Park is a powerful example of what civic pride and engagement can achieve. A handful of public officials, community and local business leaders committed themselves to the idea of transforming a landfill into a major recreational facility. They launched a capital campaign that secured the private, public and charitable investments necessary to construct the park.

Since its founding the Elings Park Foundation has managed the Park privately, without public subsidy, entirely from user fees and donations, and grants.

Now celebrating our 37th year, we strive to accommodate the community's constant demand for outdoor activities and special event venues. Our entire park is also the largest off-leash dog park in Santa Barbara. To date, we have developed: three lighted softball fields, two soccer fields, two special event areas, an amphitheater, two children's playgrounds,6 tennis courts, a BMX track, hiking and biking trails and a Veteran's Memorial Walk.

The genrous contributions of the community allosw the Foundatgion to build upon Elings Park's remarkable thirty year legacy and ensure that it remains one of Santa Barbara's most precious community treasures that promotes active living, building stronger families, and making Santa Barbara a great place to live.

Program 1

Elings Park operates 230 acres of parkland with incredible ocean views, the largest in the developed area of Santa Barbara. The park provides a home for such programs as children's camps, BMX bicycling track, softball, mountain biking, soccer, hiking, special events, picnics, hiking, hang gliding and paragliding. The park is only 30% developed. The foundation not only operates and maintains the park, it raise funds to continue the development of the park. Current focus is transformation of the remaining 23 acres of scarred landfill into a beautiful park. We provide naming opportunities for contributions to our capital campaign. The park currently serves 170,000 users each year.
