“Educating Christ-Centered Servant Leaders to Transform Africa”

Bloomington, MN   |  www.DaystarUS.org

Mission

Daystar University is a liberal arts institution with a distinctively Christian focus. Students come from more than 30 African nations (and other continents as well) to be educated within an African context. Half of the bright African students who emigrate for their education never return. Daystar builds "servant-leaders" who, upon completion of their education, feel a responsibility to improve their villages, improve the infrastructure, and cultivate the minds of African women and men.

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Daystar University in Nairobi Kenya is educating leaders of integrity, who are equipped to meet the needs of Africa. Quality faith-based education gives graduates the preparation and vision to look beyond their own success and look at the future of their communities and the continent of Africa. Daystar University's basic budget is covered through student tuition, so is sustainable. They do not, however, have the extra funds for capital growth or the funds to help many students through financial aid. Daystar U.S. comes alongside to assist with those fundraising challenges. These funds allow Daystar to grow and also to welcome many students who would never have a chance for such an opportunity. We are looking for those who are also looking at the long-term future of Africa: consider investing into the lives at Daystar University. Help us educate these future leaders, who will transform Africa.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

We assisted 212 students in 2017 with financial aid (full or partial scholarships or one-time grants). Our goal is to grow the scholarship program by 20% in 2018.

Daystar University needs to upgrade equipment in the communications program, we will assist by raising funds and equipment.

Build relationships, tell the stories of alumni who are impacting communities.

Our small staff is hardworking and diligent, but we need those who would be willing to partner with use and share their skills and resources.

212 students were assisted in 2017. We assisted in raising the funding for a sustainable water project for the Daystar University Athi River campus (due to be completed in August 2018).
