VSA California Programs and Opportunitites

VSA California Young Soloist Competition. Since 1984, the VSA International Young Soloists Program has been seeking to identify talented musicians who have a disability. The VSA California Young Soloists Competition annually selects up to three outstanding musicians from the United States and the international arena. These emerging musicians receive $2,500, professional development opportunities, and a performance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
State winner(s) will receive an award of $1,500 to further musical study and an opportunity to perform at one of VSA California’s festivals or events.

VSA ARTISTS COMMUNITY provides opportunities for California artists and students with disabilities to exhibit or present their art. The VSA ARTISTS COMMUNITY creates opportunities for artists with disabilities to network, gain knowledge, and advocate for any and all changes that allow artists with disabilities to forge their own artistic contributions and abilities.

Cultural Access and Inclusive Arts Services Programs
VSA FESTIVALS are community-based celebrations that communicate the power of the Arts and the benefits of VSA California programs by showcasing the talents and capabilities of VSA participants throughout California. Festivals feature performances, art exhibitions, demonstrations, and educational workshops where children, youth, and adults with disabilities proudly share their artistic accomplishments with the general public. VSA California serves more than 100,000 people (artists with disabilities, volunteers, audience members) by conducting Festivals, many of which are part of collaborative partnerships between various schools districts (special education departments), County Offices of Education, and local VSA sites..
