Programs
Since 1991, LACEHH has worked not only to register, but also to develop cirriculum used to educate LA's homeless and low income population on the importance of voting as a means of engaging in the democratic process, understanding the impacts of legislation and changing policy in ways that will improve their lives.
Since June 2007, LACEHH has campaigned in a collaborative effort with local East San Gabriel Valley (ESGV) organizations to educate ESGV communities and local government officials on the importance of real and affordable housing for creating vital, healthy communities. Incubating YIMBY attitudes throughout the ESGV region will help ensure that more real affordable housing is incorporated into ESGV Council of Governments homeless and low income service planning.
Housing Justice Coalition: The Housing Justice Coalition was founded by LACEHH in 2008 with a mission to expand government subsidized housing programs while preserving our existing affordable housing stock. Previous to that date it existed in the form of the Section 8 Housing Coalition. Since its inception, the Housing Justice Coalition has made an important impact in fostering legislation to expand and preserve government subsidized housing with particular attention to; the need for a moratorium on the demolition and disposition of public housing; the need for legislation on a right to housing for children and their parents and; the need to end the purging of homeless individuals from the Section 8 waiting list while lobbying successfully for increases in Section 8 vouchers.
MacArthur Park:
LACEHH works to incorporate the input of our MacArthur park constituency into local community projects. LACEHH organizes to fight for tenants rights for constituency facing evictions and unfair housing practices. In addition, LACEHH participates in the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Association's Project Area Committee for the Westlake Theatre Re-use (LA CRA-PAC).
