Mission

American Humane Association of California is a non-profit organization organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes. Its primary purpose is the prevention of cruelty to animals. AHA's Film & Television Unit, a program of AHA, was established in Los Angeles, California, to supervise the use of animals in filmed media and protect animal actors against animal abuse. American Humane Association of California appoints Humane Officers in the State of California with the legal authority to exercise the powers of a California peace officer to prevent cruelty to animal actors on set (e.g., issue citations to persons who violate laws protecting animals).
