What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Scouts BSA
Scouts BSA (formerly called Boy Scouts) is a year-round program for boys and girls ages 11 through 17 designed to achieve the aims of Scouting through a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster. Scouting is the ultimate form of learning by doing. Scouts explore their interests and improve their skills while working toward Scouting’s highest rank: Eagle. Boys and girls are organized in separate, gender-specific troops, each with their own Scout leaders.
Venturing
Venturing is a year-round program for young men and women who are 14 through 20 years of age. Venturing provides positive experiences through exciting and meaningful youth-run activities that help them pursue their special interests, grow by teaching others, and develop leadership skills.
Exploring
Exploring is a year-round program for young men and women ages 14-20 offering unique career-exploration activities and opportunities for participants. Current Explorer “Posts” include Hawaiian Airlines and the Honolulu Fire Department.
Scoutreach
Scoutreach delivers the Cub Scout program to boys and girls at elementary schools in low-income areas including Palolo, Kalihi, Waianae, and Waipahu on Oahu, and in Mountain View, Laupahoehoe, and Hilo on Hawaii Island. The year-round program for economically challenged children makes possible their participation in Scouting. Paid staff serve as the primary program leaders, and Aloha Council subsidizes costs of membership registration fees, uniforms, activity supplies and advancement recognition items to remove economic barriers so that any child who wants to can participate in Scouting.
Cub Scouts
Cub Scouts is a year-round family- and home-centered program that develops life skills for boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth grade. Cub Scouts are organized into small groups called “packs,” each of which has dedicated leaders and volunteers who are tasked with teaching them fun and valuable lessons that will help them progress in the program and in life. Activities emphasize character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.
